I believe the article below is SO valuable to those who are not quite sure about
'affiliate marketing' that I decided to include it HERE.

I have also included on this site a 'Resources Page' that offer what I personally
consider to be 'The Best Of The Best'. Resources that WILL help you, no matter
'which route' you take to get yourself up among the 'comfortably well off'.

YES! I am affiliated to a few of them. But many are included SIMPLY because I find
their resources INDISPENSABLE. If I happen to make a few quid from this site by
say; visitors clicking a few 'LINKS'.
And then some of you signing up to sites that I'm also affiliated with, then GREAT!

If I don't make ANY MONEY at all from this site, but I've helped some of you get
OUT of the MIRE of debt, then that will be MORE than enough reward.

I have a steady income already from the various 'affiliate programmes' I'm involved
with.

I also have my MAIN business; 'Contract Plastering' that earns me a 'very nice
income'.

Have you heard that you have to be in many 'affiliate programmes' to earn good
money on the Internet? We hear about people earning VAST fortunes being a
'super affiliate' and how these programmes will make you 'financially
independent'.

But what IS an affiliate programme, and can we really make any money with
them?

Here are some basic definitions and a checklist that you can apply to ANY
programme.

What Is "An Affiliate"?

Being an affiliate simply means that you sell someone else's products, and earn
commissions when you do.
When you become an 'affiliate' you are 'affiliating yourself' with the product or
service you will be selling. You are loaning them your reputation.

So don't forget that. Every business decision you make, reflects on you.
Also, the company's actions will reflect on you personally as well, so choose
wisely.

Being an 'affiliate' is simply a way of saying that you are going to be a
'commissioned salesperson'.

So......Does It Really Work?

Yes, it does.
It is absolutely true that you can make very good money with 'affiliate
programmes', but you must still understand the process of marketing and do the
work.
( It's not always dead-easy, or quick. But it's DEFINITELY worth the effort)

If you choose good programmes, DO the work (and take advantage of the tools
they offer) you WILL grow an AWESOME income in a short period of time.

It's true that you can waste a lot of time and money on them, and your reputation
can suffer if you don't choose carefully.

Here's a good checklist for choosing GOOD 'affiliate programmes'.

The 'Ultimate Affiliate' Success Checklist;-

1. Make Sure The Product Being Offered Matches You.

If your interests are in 'baby-ware', you probably won't do very well with 'Travel
sites'.
Stick with what you know at first, and once you've learned how to promote on the
Internet, add different products to a 'portfolio' of affiliate programmes.

2. Do your Homework!

Yes! I did say 'homework'. Don't just jump in because it's easy.
Ask yourself this question; is this something you would show or offer to your best
friend?
If not, keep looking.

3. Contact Current Affiliates.

Check out the testimonials on their sales-page.
Ask for their contact details.
Ask them some key questions , such as, did they get the help and support
promised?
Are they being paid on time?
Are the products actually SELLING? etc, etc.
Don't ask 'how much' here, (that's rude).

4. Look to the Future

If your first 'affiliate programme' doesn't work out, don't give up.
Many people on the net are making really GOOD incomes with affiliate
programmes.
You can too.

5. Go For Quality above Quantity..

Find maybe just two or three that meet your needs, and go all out with those.
Remember that it will be your reputation on the line.

6. Do They Sell Well?.

You need to ask how the conversion rate equates to the product or service you
will be promoting.
Conversion, is simply the number of people per 100 who view the opportunity or
product, and that ACTUALLY buy something.

You can expect this number to range from; 0 .5% to about 10% maximum.
Anything higher or lower and you need to be careful about them telling you the
truth.

Also, 'hot' products convert well while they're 'hot'. (But conversion rates drop
with time). So make sure you get current conversion figures.

7. What Is Their 'Cookie' Duration?

Most affiliate programs track their affiliates using 'cookies' that are set on the
visitor's computer.

How long does the 'cookie' last?   And more importantly;   Can it be 'overwritten?

The reason this is SO important is that people don't usually buy the first time. If
the cookie life is short (say 30- -60 days) and someone you refer buys six
months down the road, you will lose your commission.

It's exactly the same if the 'cookie' is overwritten. If it can, then someone who first
learned about product X from you, but clicks another link to buy, will not earn you
the commission you deserve.

8. Are you credited with follow-up Commissions?

This means do you get paid when someone you refer buys other products?
This is very important. People will often buy two, three or more products from the
same site......You should earn commissions for every product they buy.

9. Are your commissions 'renewable'?

If you send a visitor to a site where they pay a monthly or quarterly fee,
do you get paid every time, or just once?
You should get paid every time.

10. Do They Give You Full Support?

Most people don't know how to write ads, or create banners and graphics.
You should expect the programme you join, to provide ALL of these tools, as well
as some ongoing training on how to promote and sell their products.
